Study on Mobility of Personalized Knowledge Management

The world is becoming increasingly mobile. In the recent years, most of research was focused on mobile information systems concentrated especially on technical issues such as device capabilities, media performance, and communication networks. The impact of each knowledge replication on a business measure is captured and documented. Blogging, Twitter, mobile Google and Facebook have brought anytime conversation to a very convenient and immediate level. Sharing of information in such a heterogeneous and dynamic environment calls for knowledge management. Coherent and user-centric integration of those 3C (Computing, Communication, Consumer) technologies into task processes is still lacking. The well-established Personal Knowledge Management approaches are lacking an elaborated approach to focus in particular on mobile activities, work and assisted with modern mobile information technology (IT). From the IT point of view, one of the immediate consequences is the increasing demand for being integrated into the global and corporate network both in case of recording new information and retrieving needed information. Personal Knowledge Management attempts to utilize the technologies of information and communication to help the individual manage the information explosion in a meaningful way. Personal Knowledge Management includes knowledge gained from formal and informal instruction and refers to a collection of processes that an individual needs to carry out in order to help knowledge workers demonstrate their value to their organizations and in the job market while they improve the aggregate value of intellectual capital for the organization. In the Knowledge-based Economy, Personal Knowledge Management integrates Personal Information Management (PIM) and focused on individual skills, with Knowledge Management (KM). Most of people undertake this task have taken an organizational perspective. From this perspective, understanding of the field has developed in light of expanding knowledge about human cognitive capabilities of organizational boundaries. As mentioned previously, the mobility should be more important for Personal Knowledge Management. However, it’s really difficult to identify the specific focus of users and their approach. The reference architecture and user’s requirements should be developed from the very beginning. Without mobility, the Personal Knowledge Management system will not be able to achieve the goals. In further Knowledge Era, Personal Knowledge Management will continuously to emphasize the mobility. Finally, this study might be of substantial help for practical applications in knowledge management.
